Meet CEO,
Captain Patrick Alexander, Sr.
I was born in Atlanta, GA., My father, Julius Alexander, a Certified Flight Instructor, took me on my first airplane ride when I was 16 months old. He continued to expose me to Aviation and started teaching me how to fly as soon as I could reach the controls. I made my first solo flight on my 16th birthday. Through my father's Aviation Career Enrichment Program at Charlie Brown Airport, I earned my Private Pilot's license on my 18th birthday. I then enrolled at Atlanta Area Technical School and attained my Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic's License. While attending Area Tech, I enrolled in the joint program with Atlanta Junior College to earn an Associate Degree in Aviation Maintenance Technology. Also while attending school, I continued flying and earning additional licenses and ratings that would qualify me to become a Professional Pilot.
My father was my only Flight Instructor and he trained me for all of my pilot ratings. (Instrument, Commercial, Multi-engine and Flight Instructor ratings). After graduating from Area Tech. I was hired by Midnite Express Cargo Co. as an A&P mechanic out at Charlie Brown Airport. Later, I was hired by Lockheed GA., a company in Marietta, GA., as an Aircraft Structural Assembler. This is where I gained a lot of sheet metal experience. In November of 1988, I was hired by Northwest Airlines as an A&P Mechanic. While working at Northwest, I enrolled at Georgia State University part time to attain my Bachelor's Degree in Aviation Management. Most of my classes were taken at night as I work during the day for Northwest. While working as an A&P and going to school, I earned additional pilot ratings, became a Certified Flight Instructor, and was teaching youth/adults to fly at Aviation Career Enrichment, Inc. This was also my way of building time and experience. I also purchased a Piper Aztec to help me build Multi-engine time and the only way I could afford to do this was because I was able to take care of the maintenance on the airplane myself. In December of 1994, I graduated from Georgia State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Aviation Management.
In November of 1995, I was hired internally by Northwest Airlines as a First Officer on the DC-9 which happened to be the airplane I worked on as an A&P for them. This was also my first job as a Professional Pilot. I flew as a First Officer on the DC-9 for 3 years and then upgraded as First Officer on the Boeing 757 for 8 years. In January of 2007, I upgraded to Captain on the DC-9 and flew in this capacity for 6 years. In 2008, and after 20 years with Northwest Airlines, Delta Air Lines and Northwest merged and retained my status as a Delta Captain. In January of 2013, I moved to Captain on the Boeing 717 for 2 years. Finally, in October of 2015, I upgraded to Captain on the Boeing 757/767 for Delta which is currently the capacity I am serving with Delta Air Lines now.
In 2021, I was appointed President/CEO of Aviation Career Enrichment. ACE owns and operates a fleet of 6 airplanes. ACE is a youth motivational program that is dedicated to introducing and exposing all youths from ages 9-18 to the different Aviation Careers with a primary focus of producing future professional pilots. ACE was founded by Julius Alexander in November of 1980.
